Kayak and Stand Up Paddle Board Lessons
Lessons $45 hr/per person. Classes are a minimum of 2 hours.
Start time: Between 10am to 3pm, custom evening times available.
Here is your chance to learn from an American Canoeing Association Instructor! Build your confidence, skills and technique. Group and private lessons are available. We provide the required gear, including the required wetsuits. You are welcome to bring your own kayak, if a private lesson or kayak is approved by instructor for group class.
Lesson one- Introduction to Kayaking
This 2 hour class cover basic kayaking strokes and maneuvering. Wetexit and both self and assisted T-rescue will be covered. Gear is provided, but if you would like to provide your own kayak, it is recommended. Wet exits are provided. Prerequisite course for our sea kayak rentals. This class is also complimentary if you decide to purchase a kayak.
Lesson Two- Just Rescues or Just Paddle Strokes
2-3 hours. Learn a variety of self rescues and assisted rescues- T rescue, scoop, paddle over rescue, and hand of God. Paddle option includes forward, stopping, reverse, and sweep stroke.
Lesson Three-Advanced Paddling Skills
This class will take you from your current skill set and provide new building blocks for safer and more efficient paddling. Review and refine forward, reverse and sweep strokes, edging, draw strokes, sculling, low brace, low brace turn, high brace, stern and bow rudders, hanging draw and combination strokes and towing. Rolling is an option, but would be a class on its own. Traditional, Greenland paddling instructions is another class, we have paddles!
